During your cleaning, our hygienist will clean and polish each of your teeth, making sure to reach those areas you might miss at home when brushing and flossing.
You’ll also get a complete dental exam to look for any problems such as cavities, gum disease, or oral cancer. Early detection and care for these problems makes treatment easier and more successful. If necessary, we may also recommend fluoride treatments and varnishes to help prevent cavities.

For most of our patients, a dental exam and cleaning will take about an hour. We’ll begin by asking you about any problems and possibly taking a set of X-rays. Your dental hygienist will then look over your mouth and perform a thorough teeth cleaning. Finally, your dentist will perform a complete dental exam and make any recommendations needed for a healthy smile.
Luckily, there’s no reason to wait to eat after your cleaning. However, your teeth and gums may be a little sensitive. So, you may want to avoid extremely hot, cold, or acidic food and beverages for a few hours. Be sure to ask your dentist if you have any concerns about what you can eat or drink after your appointment.
